Finding a Good Time-Pass Hobby

The ultimate student dilemma: studying vs. having fun. Can we do both?

Heyy ☺️

The universal question of all the students : How to balance studies and having fun???

It is really important to keep a balance between academics and having fun. I will be really honest about this, it’s been really difficult for me to find time for relaxation. Sometimes it gets overwhelming ngl. The lab reports, lectures and biology EDI committee meetings keep me tied up most of the time. I think a lot of us feel this but don’t say it but when you’re juggling with so much, choosing fun over work becomes tempting.

However, a common ground can be used wherein something that you like and productive can be done. For me, reading novels is an escape from the academic stress. It takes me into a fictional world away from the studies.

We often feel like hobbies need to be impressive or useful, but honestly, I feel that a hobby can be anything that helps you switch off for a moment. It could be as quiet as journaling, as creative as painting or also as random as trying a new recipe. What matters is that it gives your mind a break from the constant cycle of lectures, notes, and deadlines.

And the truth is, you don’t need to be good at it. You don’t need to show results or prove anything to anyone. A hobby is supposed to be your space where something belongs only to you. So allow yourself to explore without judgment.

You don’t need to be good at your hobby, you just need to like it enough to keep coming back.

So maybe this week, pick one thing you’ve always wanted to try and give it a go. I’m going to try photography with a camera myself! Who knows, it might become my little escape amidst all the chaos of assignments and exams.
